So you have decided to stay and vacation in Thailand for a while. And why not?
With beautiful scenery, wonderful people and relatively low prices, it’s a good place to make Thailand your “home away from home” while travelling.
Each tourist visa allows you to stay up to 60 days. You must leave the country after 60 days and can apply for a new tourist visa. Alternatively, you can also head to the Immigration Office and extend your stay an extra month for a fee of 1900 THB.
When you’re done your first tourist visa, you can exit the country and get more visas.

Alternatively, you may also apply for a multiple entry tourist visa, where each entry allows for a 60 day stay. You then exit the country and return for another two to three months of Thailand goodness.
Tourist visas typically cost about 1000 THB (amount varies in different embassies) per 60 day entry.
Carry that amount in Thai baht as well as the approximate equivalent in local currency when applying.
Typical requirements for application include:
- TWO recent photographs on a white background.
- Photocopy of passport (personal details, last entry stamp)
- Proof of accomodation, flight into Thailand (this was required in the Kuala Lumpur Embassy
Do understand that too many visas in your passport can inconvenience you at the Thai borders where you may be asked to produce additional documentation including proof of residence, bank account statements, and more.
