September 27, 2015 - China is a great model in many ways for people across the globe. However, there are also fallacies in the system that the would could avoid all together.
One major flaw gnawing at Chinese society is the lack of free speech, fortified by the so called “Great Firewall of China”. It is unfortunate fallacy that the Thai junta government has decided to model their country’s internet services after.
The government has recently decreed that there be single internet gateway in and out of the country, thereby increasing their ability to block traffic to and from sites which they blacklist.
Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Line, along with various other social and accredited media could be switched on and off at the whim of the government at anytime they wish. This could at the very least inconvenience Thais, and at the very worse trample upon their freedoms of speech.
Given that Thailand is a hub for so called digital nomads, this could spell trouble for those who work online and are long term tourists in the country.
Thailand also houses the third largest United Nations Complex, housing many offices for their various programs.
